About

Lefferts

Lefferts is a privately owned real estate development firm founded in New York City with more than two decades of experience. It develops luxury condominiums, mixed-use destinations, and high-end retail across New York and South Florida, having co-developed approximately 3 million square feet and invested more than $1.5 billion in real estate. In 2019, founder Mendy Chudaitov extended the firm to Miami Beach, where Lefferts has become the defining developer of the North Beach (NoBe) revival along the 71st Street Corridor.

Lefferts built its reputation in New York City, where collaborations with renowned architects - including Renzo Piano on 565 Broome Street in SoHo - and transformative projects such as Astoria North in Queens reshaped neighbourhoods and skylines. That track record established the firm's approach: design-led development backed by long-term conviction rather than short-cycle speculation.

In 2019, founder Mendy Chudaitov expanded the firm to South Florida, concentrating its investment in Miami Beach's North Beach (NoBe) district and the 71st Street Corridor - an area that had not seen a new condominium in over five years. Lefferts changed that. Its Miami Beach pipeline now includes 72 Park, a 22-story tower completed in spring 2025 and the first new luxury building on Miami Beach to permit short-term rentals; 72 Carlyle, a 19-story residence designed by Piero Lissoni and slated to break ground in 2027; PALMA Miami Beach Residences, a 14-story residential and mixed-use tower; and 880 71st Street, a 20-story multifamily tower with ground-floor retail.

Lefferts is vertically integrated, carrying acquisitions, design, construction, marketing, and asset management in-house. The firm frames development as community-building: sustainable, design-driven projects delivered through long-term relationships with local leaders, paired with philanthropy and engagement in the places where it builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lefferts is a privately owned real estate development firm founded in New York City with more than 25 years of experience. It develops luxury condominiums, mixed-use destinations, and high-end retail in New York and South Florida, having co-developed roughly 3 million square feet and invested more than $1.5 billion. The firm is led by founder Mendy Chudaitov.

Lefferts is the defining developer of Miami Beach's North Beach (NoBe) revival along the 71st Street Corridor. Its projects include 72 Park, a 22-story tower completed in spring 2025; 72 Carlyle, a 19-story Piero Lissoni-designed residence breaking ground in 2027; PALMA Miami Beach Residences, a 14-story mixed-use tower; and 880 71st Street, a 20-story multifamily building with ground-floor retail.

Lefferts operates from dual headquarters: Miami (159 NE 6th Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33132) and New York (370 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10017). The firm originated in New York City and expanded to South Florida in 2019.

Lefferts pairs design-led development with long-term neighbourhood conviction. It single-handedly restarted condominium development in Miami Beach's North Beach after a five-year gap, and its 72 Park was the first new luxury building on Miami Beach to permit short-term rentals. The firm is vertically integrated - acquisitions, design, construction, marketing, and asset management are handled in-house.

In New York, Lefferts collaborated with Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano on 565 Broome Street in SoHo. In Miami Beach, the firm has worked with leading design talent including Italian designer Piero Lissoni on 72 Carlyle, reflecting a consistent emphasis on architectural authorship across its portfolio.
