About
JDS Development Group
JDS Development Group is the developer behind some of the most architecturally ambitious towers in America. Founded in 2002 by Michael Stern, the acquisition, development and construction firm is responsible for 111 West 57th Street, the Western Hemisphere's most slender residential skyscraper, and The Brooklyn Tower, Brooklyn's first supertall. With more than 7 million square feet under construction and the Dolce & Gabbana-branded 888 Brickell underway in Miami, JDS pushes the boundaries of engineering and design on every project.
JDS Development Group was founded in 2002 by Michael Stern, who serves as Founder and CEO. The firm is vertically integrated through its in-house builder, JDS Construction Group, giving it direct control over the engineering and construction of some of the most technically demanding towers in the world.
JDS pioneered the New York super-slender tower typology with 111 West 57th Street, the Steinway Tower, which rises approximately 1,428 feet to become the tallest and most slender residential building in the Western Hemisphere. It followed with The Brooklyn Tower at 9 DeKalb, Brooklyn's first supertall at 93 storeys, and the American Copper Buildings with their distinctive skybridge.
The firm is now a major force in Miami, where 888 Brickell - a 90-storey, Dolce & Gabbana-branded supertall - is set to become the tallest building in the city and the fashion house's first branded condominium tower. Other South Florida projects include Monad Terrace, designed by Jean Nouvel. JDS frequently collaborates with leading architects including SHoP, Jean Nouvel and Studio Sofield.
Design Philosophy & Values
JDS describes itself as innovators and builders pioneering progressive new forms of large-scale urban development that challenge the status quo. Every project is an exercise in pushing the limits of engineering and design in collaboration with the world's most respected architects.
