MMEGA was born in 2015 when two Florentine professionals - Giorgio Muriella, a short-term rental specialist, and Edoardo Matucci, a property sales expert -= crossed paths at a real estate evening course. Starting from a basement office on Via dei Bardi with a lean budget and an outsized ambition, they built Homes in Florence on a simple but powerful thesis: industrialize property management without sacrificing the artisanal care that defines Italian hospitality.
Their model worked because it benefited all three parties simultaneously - property owners received hassle-free management and optimized returns; guests enjoyed high-quality stays at competitive rates; and the company built sustainable margins through operational efficiency. Growth came entirely through word of mouth.
By 2020, success in short-term rentals opened the door to real estate sales and investment advisory. In 2021, they launched Tuscan Villas, a dedicated division for luxury countryside estates across Tuscany, Marche, and Umbria. By 2024, with over 500 properties under management and a fully integrated offer spanning rentals, sales, and renovation (via MMEGA Costruzioni), the company rebranded as MMEGA Homes & Villas - the name itself an acronym of the founders' initials: Matucci, Muriella, Edoardo, Giorgio, Associated.
